Lebanon, one two

July 26th, 2009 — 12:07pm

Our weekend in lebanon started with a very long car ride and, all of us having slept 3 or 4 hours the night before, we were not in the best shape.

We went from Damascus to Saida.

We wandered in the old city (which was pretty empty)

busWe took one of those buses to Beirut

night

When we arrived in Beirut, Amr took us to the southern suburbs where an aunt of his could host us. But a guy from the hezbollah found us lost in the streets and firmly asked us to leave the district. I didn’t take my camera out during all that story, you can understand why.

Anyway, i called the mother of one of my best friends that i hadn’t seen for 8 years (i still know the number by heart :) )

And Aida welcommed us in her appartment, … it was a great moment for me. I used to hang out in that place all the time and to be in it again felt good. i didn’t take any photos either. It was something i had to live rather than observe.

Next day.

GilThe best lights were always when we were on a bus…

So you get to see a lot of bus shots. hoho

a girlIn Baalbek, we went to a Deep Purple concert. That was pretty funny. This girl didn’t think so apparently.

JulienJulien liked it.

.....At the end of the concert, all the chair cushions flew high in the air…

....It went on for about 20 minutes !

baalbek streetWe went to Amr’s uncle place. On the way i found an sx-70 polaroid camera for quite cheapo cheap.

Amr's uncleAmr’s uncle. Besides looking serious here, he’s one great and funny man. I was even able to make jokes in arabic. hehe

GilHmmm

No electricityThe electricity went off… he had a lighter that had a little lamp.

Gil

We started using the little torchlight

familyThe light came back and the family arrived… We talked until 2AM.

Great times

The day after, we came back to Damascus.

And now, i’m off to eat dinner.
